What kind of device is a rheometer?
This instrument measures the flow characteristics of non-Newtonian fluids. Measurements can be made under a wide range of conditions to evaluate the rheological properties of non-Newtonian fluids. Of course, it can also make measurements similar to those of a viscometer.
How much sample do you need?
The SV-10000A can measure as little as 10 mL by using a small volume sample container.
Why does the viscosity descend even though the temperature is constant? (Newtonian fluid)
If the liquid level drops due to evaporation of the sample, the viscosity will be measured low. Please take measures such as covering the opening of the container.
Why are the values different from other methods of viscometry?
粘When measuring non-Newtonian fluids, different values may be obtained depending on the measurement method. This is because the shear rate is different for each method. Note that the tuning-fork vibrometer displays the product of viscosity and density as the measurement result.
Why is there an error when the samples are the same?
Error may occur depending on the height of the liquid surface; a 1mm change in the height of the liquid surface may result in an error of about 5%.
Is it easy to operate?
The touch panel operation allows even first-time users to use the system without stress.
Are there any precautions to be taken when using non-standard containers?
The SV-10000A is calibrated for viscosity with a sample container (polycarbonate 35-45 ml). When using a container other than the standard sample container to measure absolute values of high viscosity of 1000 mPa-s or higher, it is recommended that calibration be performed with the container to be used.
Is it possible to measure the viscosity of a sample in a fluid state?
The SV-A Series is capable of continuously measuring viscosity even when a sample is in a flowing state. The ability to continuously measure the viscosity of a sample in a flowing state is a major feature of the tuning fork type vibration viscometer SV-A series only. If the viscosity is in the range of 300 mPa-s or lower, which can be stirred with a stirrer, measurement can be made even if the sample is flowing. However, if the sample is moving to the extent that the liquid surface waves, the liquid surface level changes and stable measurement is not possible. In the case of a non-Newtonian fluid, the viscosity value will change as the flow speed of the sample changes, so please keep the flow state (speed) constant when measuring.
